1914...............School became a consolidated district
1915-16......... Buildings were built; horse-drawn bus/vans
1919...............First graduating class: three students
1940...............Original building burned; many records lost.
1942...............High School building burned; other losses.
1945...............Student population starts to increase rapidly.
1958...............Two new grade schools and a new high school began;
District no longer one location; becomes independent,
rather than a consolidated district.
1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s--Extensive growth in student and
faculty numbers and multiple building locations

 

 PUTNAM CITY SCHOOLS 1914 AND 2003

1914/15......School began with 160 students, one building and six teachers
2003...........District had 19,340 students, 1,314 classroom teachers,
63 administrators, 50 counselors, 635 support staff,
18 elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools, one alternative high school and 118 buses travel more than
5,350 miles daily to transport about 7,500 students.
